If you’re ever in Miami around President’s Day, be sure to stop by the Coconut Grove Arts Festival for an artful day at one of Miami’s best annual art and cultural events. The festival lasts three days (usually a Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) and features hundreds of great artists, both local and international. Napoleon Hill ‘s Think And Grow Rich is the culmination of 25 years of work and research. The book came about when Hill went on an assignment to interview Andrew Carnegie (a famous American Steel tycoon), and Carnegie offered him the opportunity to meet and study successful men for the purpose of writing this book, though it would be without pay. It took only a brief moment of contemplation before Hill agreed to it, and afterward Carnegie informed him that if he’d taken more than 30 seconds to answer, the offer would have been detracted. He said, “Men who succeed reach decisions promptly, and change them, if at all, very slowly. Men who fail, reach decisions, if at all, very slowly, and change them frequently, and quickly.” This is one of the important lessons about decision and action in this book.

The Drunken Donut!

So some time in January, a few weeks before the Feb 9th event, a Facebook invitation popped up in my notifications from my friend Sylvia of Guru Rabbit. Sylvia is an amazing baker and lover of all things food and vegetarian related. Her “guru” status is confirmed, in fact. She makes boring old recipes fun, cooks with clean, gluten-free ingredients and produces flavor combinations that will make your head spin! She’d recently started up a small catering business with her ex-boss Barbara and called it The Drunken Doughnut, which got its name from a little idea/recipe between the two of them that you can read about on their website.
